Southwest Laser Institute, formerly Dermacare at Arrowhead training center, was one of the first training programs approved by the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA) in 2004. Our training courses will provide you with the knowledge you need to know to work with any laser you may be exposed to in practice, as our basic laser biophysics instruction may be applied to all lasers and light based treatments.

We also provide comprehensive training in anatomy and physiology of the skin and common skin conditions encountered in practice. Our experienced trainers have been training and practicing in the laser field for over five years, including hands on experience with many popular lasers available on the market today.

Southwest Laser Institute has an agreement with Physician Skin Solutions at Arrowhead, a full service medical aesthetic clinic, with many years experience in medical/cosmetic dermatology and aesthetics. Dr. Shannon Maltais is the on-site Medical Director of Physician Skin Solutions at Arrowhead, where she practices and clinically trains for Southwest Laser Institute. The two entities will be working together, and are not affiliated with any franchise or medical spa sales system.

At Southwest Laser Institute, you will find a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students are exposed to multiple laser platforms and are able to experience the daily workings of a medical aesthetic spa. This exposure is important, as students need to develop skills and draw experience from actual medical professionals in order to be safe, effective practitioners themselves. Our clinical training board also includes RN’s, national laser trainers, experienced certified laser technicians and medical aestheticians.
